ABET Publishing is proud to present the release of 5th Element’s “Don’t Stop”, a cerebral galactic ballad that dares voyage through the vastness of human desire.
Drawing inspiration from the projects namesake movie, “Don’t Stop” is a song that echoes with the most distant pang of loneliness yet, conversely, a deep understanding of sensuality and human connection. The kind of dichotomy that one might foster a profound understanding of across the solitary aeons of space. In the absence of connection, truly learning what it means.
Lynne Walton’s vocal, that in itself straddles the cosmic breadth of human emotion, has every inch the gravitas to pull off such a feat. As if Walton herself had, from the depths of Space, nurtured her own unique, contagious and palpable expectations of love. At its most soaring, her voice seems to reach us from the internal most depths of our personal Universe, at its most tender, it somehow reaches deeper. In one instance a tender kiss in the most intimate of settings, in another, a distant thought that reaches across light years to remind us, beneath the humdrum of day to day, is a constant, persistent and Universal experience we all share.
Set to visual imagery provided by NASA, that draws into thought the futility of borders and unity of the human experience, we have across this rousing Space Odyssey the opportunity to contemplate the ways in which we are uniquely the same. Human emotion, from one expression to the other, is surely the most valuable and cohesive of forces. The wash of sonder one here is invited to experience, is no small gesture. Our planet in focus, hanging in a black abyss, set to a musical score that seemingly infuses sonic ingredients from the entire pantheon creativity; the organic meandering of a tentative piano, the breath and swell of synthesised technology, scales of Western and Eastern origin. There is no divide in the orchestral landscape, there is no division at all from this perspective.
The 5th Element, one might say, is music. Infusing the passion of fire, the fluidity of water, the breathlessness of air and, finally, Earth – our shared, mutual cosmic sanctuary. The theatre of all human experience which here, in “Don’t Stop”, plays out in the most vivid and Universal detail. Desire, contact, love.
